Neji asks why would Hiashi be in such a place, Hiashi explains that Hinata is his precious daughter and Neji is a memento from his precious brother. He easily defeats the Cloud ninja with one of his air palm attacks while he was trying to run away. Hiashi appears in time to save Neji from a death blow from the Cloud ninja. Neji retorts saying that he is not a sacrificial piece and that he is there because of his own will. The Cloud ninja continues to taunt him telling him that despite the hatred he holds for the main family he was still willing to sacrifice himself for them, having a pitiful fate. The second Cloud ninja uses earth style ninjutsu and is able to immobilize Neji by trapping his limbs, commenting on how a taijutsu user that cannot use his arms and legs is like a bird trapped in a cage. Neji is able to defeat one of the Cloud ninjas and reveals himself. Neji, transformed into Kiba arrives in time to defend Hinata and uses a smoke bomb to get away Neji uses the diversion to lure the kidnappers away while transformed as Kiba with a decoy Hinata. While the kidnappers stop to get a drink of water by the river, Hinata fights against them. Tenten stays behind to deal with the trap by herself while Neji and Kiba follow the Sound ninja. Neji, Tenten and Kiba give chase and soon end up in a trap. After Tenten, Kiba volunteered himself as he did not trust Neji with Hinata’s life.
